Are your dogs getting the vaccines they need?

Every pet’s lifestyle is unique. That’s why it’s important for pet owners to understand which vaccines are right for their pet. At www.mypet.com, pet owners can take a risk assessment to find out what diseases their pet may be at risk for and how to protect against them.

The first steps in pet protection
  • Every pet should visit his or her veterinarian regularly and receive regular vaccinations in order to stay healthy
  • Core vaccines are generally recommended for all pets. Lifestyle vaccines are designed for pets that are at risk for certain diseases based on their daily routines.
  • The risk assessment on www.mypet.com helps educate pet owners about what diseases their pet may be at risk for and what to ask their veterinarian about at their next visit
Other activities for pet owners to take part in at www.mypet.com
  • Upload photos of their pets to the interactive campaign ma
  •   See what clinics in their area are supporting the campaign
  •   Enter a caption contest and win a prize
  •       Watch videos of Mutt and Kitty in action on the campaign trail as they talk about ways to keep their pet healthy

Turkey sweet potato oatmeal cranberry dog treat recipe

I made my dogs turkey sweet potato oatmeal and cranberry biscuits and  dehyrated sweet potato treats

Everyone at my house only eat turkey breast, so the dogs always get the dark meat of the turkey. They had some turkey with gravy and still had plenty of leftover turkey so I decided to find a recipe. I ran across a recipe for Turkey Tasties but I only had white all purpose flour and dint know how it would work so I put some oatmeal in my food proccesor and turned it into flour and created my own recipe based off of the Turkey Tasties recipe.

Turkey, sweet potato, oatmeal and cranberry biscuits recipe
I used turkey, pumpkin, leaves and bone cookie cutters

Ingredients
2 cups of cooked turkey
1/2-1 cup chicken broth
1-2 sweet potatoes(mashed sweet potatoes would work too as long as they don't have brown sugar)
3 cups of oatmeal
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 tsp garlic powder(optional)
1/4 stick of margarine(optional)
1 tsp parsley flakes(optional) I didn't think of the parsley until after I made them but parsley would be a nice addition if I make them again I will add parsley
flour for rolling the dough out I used all purpose but you can use whatever kind you have on hand as long as your pups aren't allergic
the biscuits before going in the oven

directions
Put turkey and chicken broth in blender or food proccesor and puree, microwave sweet potatoes and removed the skin and mash. Add mashed sweet potatoes to blender and puree.add melted butter if needed. add garlic salt and parsley if desired. pour mixture into bowl and wash your blender a cup at a time put the oatmeal in your blender and mix the oatmeal flour into the turkey sweet potato mixture until you gets a desired texture(these are treats you roll out and use cookie cutters) stir in dried cranberries. Roll out dough and cut with desired cookie cutters bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown, time varies if thinner dough and smaller shapes check on them often.

The biscuits are done and cooling on wax paper

Lets see what the Taste Tester think
Molly just waking up from a nap  smells yummy homemade treats

what 1 do I want? I want all of them, please, oh pretty please!

This is so delicious mommy! more please!

Comfort Zone with Feliway Review

This post brought to you by Comfort Zone® products. All opinions are 100% mine.

Photobucket

As you probably know by now I have 5 cats. My original three, sunshine, Snuggles and Honey all came together so they pretty much always got along, Then I took in Spunky who was a stray in my neighborhood. Sunshine welcomed him, but Snuggles and Honey hated him, eventually they adjusted. Then I rescued Happy from a bad situation and she didn't get along with none of my other cats.

Photobucket

She peed in places she shouldn't have, hissed, growled and batted at my other cats. She is an old lady and is really messed up I understand that but I want all of my cats to get along. I tried Comfort Zone with Feliway products plug in and she is starting to get along with the other cats.. Honey and Sunshine had been acting wild before using comfort zone with feliway now they aren't running all over the house making all kind of weird sounds or scratching at things. They are all getting along thanks to comfort zone with feliway products. I have been only using it for a month so I expect that they will be even better behaved in a couple of months as Comfort Zone with feliway products  recommends to use it for at least 90 days.Comfort Zone® with Feliway® products  has really helped my cats be nicer to the dogs and each other. Before sunshine was batting at the dogs faces. Comfort zone with feliway products  relieves cats from urine marking and scratching associated with stressful situations such as multi pet households, visits to the vet, etc. It comes as a diffuser and a spray. It is ideal to have the diffuser plugged in the room your cats spend the most time in. The spray is ideal to spray in your cats carrier when going to vet and to spray directly on areas your cat has scratched.Comfort Zone with Feliway products mimic the feline facial pheromone that helps cats feel safe and secure in their environment. Comfort Zone with Feliway products are available at PetCo, PetSmart, independent pet stores, and online. If your cat is experiencing a medical issue please consult a veterinarian before using. If you have a cat you should visit Comfort Zone with Feliway products  on Facebook.

Great USA Dog Treats- 2 Winners 11/11- 11/30

With all of the negative news about dog treats from China, it's important that we give our dog the healthiest possible chewies. Great USA Dog Treats sell only treats made in the USA, and most of them  in NC! JustFindIt4U has teamed up with a select group of doggy loving bloggers to bring you 2 chances to win some treats for your favorite 4 legged canine.

Great USA Dog Treats, based in North Carolina, was inspired by a Welsh Pembroke Corgi and born out of treat frustration. We wanted to give our Corgi treats that were good, safe and made in the USA. Finding these treats at local stores and supermarkets was difficult. The solution, Great USA Dog Treats!

Our mission at Great USA Dog Treats is to provide safe, tasty dog treats and chews to caring dog owners for the delight and enjoyment of their canine friends. We care about your dog’s health and happiness. Great USA Dog Treats also wants to help you enhance the happiness, safety and well-being of your dog.

Great USA Dog Treats sent us a few samples for our rescue dog Gypsy to try out. Gypsy is finicky about her treats, and she loves to chew, so her jaws would truly put any bones to the test. In the picture to the left, she is chewing on a small steak bone: 100% All Natural beef steak bones specifically prepared for dogs. These bones are baked and hickory smoked with no additives and no preservatives. These are small sized bones, ideal for the smaller dog. Each package contains three bones. Produced and made in the USA. You can tell from the picture that Gypsy loves her steak bones, and I loved that they are produced here in the USA. She spent the first few minutes licking the smoky flavor, before digging in and getting to work on the bone itself. 30 minutes later, she hadn't made much of a dent in the bone, so she hid it to return to the next day.(what dog wouldn't love these?)

We also received a bag of Soft Cheese & Bacon Training Treats, which Gypsy thought were like manna from heaven (or whatever dogs think when they taste something they really like). 8 oz package baked cheese & bacon flavored treats. Dogs will be on their best behavior when rewarded with this little treat! Made in the USA. Ingredients: Rye Flour, rolled oats, honey, bacon, dried cheese. No additives or preservatives.

The Great USA Dog Treats website has many other items to choose from, see their entire store here. And for a limited time, they are offering FREE shipping with a $25 order.

JustFindIt4U is hosting a Giveaway from 9 PM on 11/11 and ending at 12:00 AM on 12/1, with 2 winners (Continental US only). There will be a small dog prize (rv $28), and a large dog prize (rv $26) available. The 2 winners each get to choose which prize they want.

We have invited some doggy loving bloggers to join us, be sure to check out their pages as you are going through the RaffleCopter form.

Dry Idea Review and Giveaway Ends July 13 2012

I know that dogs do not need deodorant but dog walkers sure do. If you have a big dog like my newly adopted saint Bernard you can work up a sweat just getting him or her to listen to you much less walking a dog. Roxy and Molly both love going for long fast paced walks so I need a product like new Dry Idea advanced dry roll on which dries before you even know it and protects you fro 24 hours. Which means you do not have to apply it before every dog walk so you can get out the door sooner and take a few minutes longer walk.
You can find out more about this and the other great Dry Idea products at DryIdea.com
and like Dry Idea's Facebook page

Also would you like to enter to win up to $1000 in prizes from Dry idea including a $500 grand prize?

Write a Post Help a Dog

Adopting a shelter dog is a great way to find a loyal best friend. I adopted my Molly last year and she is the sweetest dog. She is so well behaved and very loving.I know that we can't save every dog. but you can help a lot of dogs without having to adopt them all. It is as easy as writing a blog post. A shelter will get a bag of food for every blog post written. You do not have to have a pet blog to write a post, all bloggers are welcome to write a post!

With each post, Pedigree will donate a 17-pound bag of dry food to a shelter. You have until midnight ET on Saturday, June 30 to write your post; the donations are limited to one bag per blog up to 450 bags total. That is 7,650 pounds of of kibble!
