Canning dog food your dogs will love

homemade canned chicken stew for dogs
Chicken meatball dog food
Chicken veg dog food

This year I started making and canning homemade dog food and my girls love it. It's not quite as difficult to make as you might think.
You will need:
A pressure canner( I have a presto 23 quart and love that I can stack pint jars)
Canning utensils(funnel, bubble remover tool, jar lifter, tongs or magnetic lid wand)
Canning jars( I used pint jars, but depending on how many dogs you have and their size you could use quarts or half pints)
ingredients
Chicken(boneless skinless would make your work a lot easier but I had about 40 lbs of chicken leg quarters I got on sale for 49 cents a lb)
Vegetables-
I used 2 sweet potatoes, 1 butternut squash, 1 pie pumpkin, celery, bell peppers(Daisy loves red pepper), 1 lb baby carrots, 1 lb peas, 1 lb green beans,
Chicken broth
Instructions:
Wash and sterilize your jars
Cook your chicken and debone unless using boneless skinless chicken breast( the first time I made dog food I used my pressure cooker it took forever so the next time I baked it but didn't have enough room for all of it so I grilled some and put some in the slow cooker, the easiest way to debone the chicken is when it is baked of grilled is what I have found you can do it any way you like or even raw pack if using boneless skinless breast.)
Peel and cut your vegetables
add all your vegetables to the jars then chicken then broth making sure to leave headspace
Put sterilized lids and bands on your jars put in pressure canner and pressure can at 75 minutes for pints and 90 for quarts for my altitude it was 11 pounds of pressure

The first time I made the food I mixed everything together in a stockpot but have since found it simpler to raw pack the veggies as they do cook in the canner

I also had used my meat grinder to grind chicken and make meatball to can
Roxy Molly and Daisy loved the homemade food
